Equality March for Unity and Pride – Twin Cities @ Minnesota State Capitol
Jun 11 @ 11:00 am – 2:00 pm
Equality March for Unity and Pride - Twin Cities @ Minnesota State Capitol | Saint Paul | Minnesota | United States

On June 11, 2017, an Equality March for Unity & Pride will be held in Washington, D.C. and sister events will be held in cities around the world. Twin Cities Pride is proud to lead this effort in Minneapolis/St. Paul.

Mobilizing LGBTQ+ communities, our loved ones and our allies – with particular focus on those who have been actively silenced and neglected – in the fight to affirm and protect our rights, our safety and our full humanity.

The Twin Cities Equality March inspires people of all gender and sexual identities to fight for love, justice, inclusion, and equity in a way that unites our community and creates space for people to show up as their whole, true, and authentic selves. More information about the goals of this march can be found here: 2017 TC Equality March Mission & Platform.

The March starts at 11:00 am, gathering beginning at 10:00 am, at Dale on University in St. Paul. We will march along University to the State Capitol where the rally starts at 12:00 pm. After the march we encourage you to go to the Golden Valley Pride Festival (12:00 – 6:00 pm) and Queer Prom (starts at 7:30 pm)!

Both the start and end of the march and rally are on the Green Line Light Rail. Marchers are encouraged to take the Green Line to the Dale Ave station. Drivers are encouraged to park at the Capitol Complex and walk or take the Green Line back to Dale for the start of the march. Please do not park in the shopping center lot at Dale and University.

We expect thousands of people to join us on this march and will need many volunteers. Registration for volunteers is now open! Sign up to be a volunteer marshal and help make this a safe event!

If you are interested in helping to organize this march with Twin Cities Pride, please send us a message, email us or call us at 612-255-3260.

Play for Pride Kickball Tournament – A Benefit for Avenues for Homeless Youth @ Rice and Arlington Fields
Jun 17 @ 9:00 am – 6:00 pm

Play with Pride – Fundraiser for Avenues for Homeless Youth Host Home Programs!

On June 17 Twin Cities Pride will be hosting Play with Pride – a kickball tournament fundraiser benefitting the Avenues for Homeless Youth host homes programs, specifically the GLBT Host Home Program and the ConneQT Host Home Program!

We are recruiting teams of 8 – 11 people to play in this single-elimination kickball tournament.

In addition to teams from Avenues for Homeless Youth, we will have two levels of teams:

  • Community Teams at $240 per team
  • Youth GSA Teams at $80 per team

We are also registering cheerleaders! All registered cheerleaders will receive a t-shirt and a set of pom poms for cheering on our teams to victory!

  • Cheerleaders at $15 each

Register your team or as a cheerleader HERE!

Deadline for registering your team is June 1, 2017.

Check-in will start at 8:00 am and the games will start at 9:00 am. The tournament bracket will be created once we see how many teams sign up. Your team will be notified of their first game time (the 9:00 slot or the 10:15 slot) at least 48 hours in advance. All teams will be provided t-shirts for their team with their team name on the back, so please let us know what sizes and how many of each size you will need! Size options are adult S, M, L, XL, and XXL.

All players will need a waiver signed by an adult – coming soon. We will provide all game kickballs, bases, and officiants. The winning team will get a Play with Pride Trophy!

Official rules for play are forthcoming – will be posted here soon and emailed out to all registered teams.

Not able to play? Consider a donation to Avenues for Homeless Youth – there is an option for this on the registration site!

Are there minimum age requirements to enter the event?

This is an all-ages event! Family teams with younger children are welcome, but please use common sense with how young, since most teams will consist of teenagers and adults. We want to prevent any possible injuries!

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

There is ample parking around the sports complex and the fields are easy to access via bus lines 62, 262, and 61.

What can I bring into the event?

This is a public park, so you may bring in your own food and drinks. We may have food and drinks for sale, but these plans are not finalized yet.

Since this is a family friendly event, we request that you keep alcohol consumption to a minimum. Per the park website, the possession and consumption of non-intoxicating malt liquor (containing no more than 3.2 percent alcohol by weight) is allowed. No glass beverage containers are allowed.

What about bad weather?

The kickball tournament will happen rain or shine, with delays of the game possible for serious downpours or lightning. Please dress for the weather!

What’s the refund policy?

Refund requests made at least 48 hours before the start of the first game will be honored, minus a $50 charge for team t-shirts that we have already printed. There will be no refunds given for inclement weather.

How can I contact the organizer with any questions?

You may contact Amy Brockman at Twin Cities Pride at 612-255-3260 or at info@tcpride.org.
