Same Difference, a documentary film that shows the difference between learning in a supportive school climate versus an oppressive school climate, featuring stories from Justin Aaberg and Graeme Taylor. Same Difference is a feature length documentary that presents the lives of two real-life adolescent boys who identify as gay from a young age.
The film demonstrates a schools’ responsibility in creating safe and inclusive environments. Through the use of interviews, data, home movies and past media coverage the film shows the different results between learning in a supportive school climate versus an oppressive school climate. Graeme Taylor grows up and goes to school in an affirming academic environment that allows him to thrive while contrasted with Justin Aaberg who unfortunately attends a school district with policies in place that were non-inclusive and many would say created a hostile environment for kids. Justin was just one of nine youth that took their lives while attending the Anoka-Hennepin School District between 2009-2011. The film also examines the current research on anti-bullying and offers solutions to handling gender and identity issues among adolescents within schools.
The film is directed/produced by Joshua Sweeny. Kyle Wentzel served as the films Producer/Co-Director and Cinematographer. Both reside in Pittsburgh, PA.

Ready to earn those patches? GRRRL SCOUT is gearing up for its Second Annual Pride event SUMMER CAMP. With a strong commitment to breaking conformity, GRRRL SCOUT curates a unique array of entertainment, partners and offerings for each and every event. Summer Camp is no different. This year we will be pulling out all the stops.
Summer Camp, although bearing some similarities, is far from any ordinary cabin
getaway. We have added our own “Prideful” twist. In addition to our normally scheduled event entertainment (e.g., pool tables, pinball, burlesque, bonfires, photo opportunities, dance offs and arm-wrestling contests) we have added a few new features that will certainly sweeten the deal.
New Campsite: To accommodate the 900+ patrons that attended last year’s event, we have decided to move to a larger venue. This year’s Summer Camp will be hosted just down the street at The Cabooze, offering triple the space, an awesome patio, ample parking and a location directly off the light rail for easy commute.
Progressive Music Party: Get ready to rock the dance floor with hits from your prideful past. Girl Named Jane will be kicking the night off right with sweet jams from the 80’s and 90’s, then werkin’ her way through to those current campfire classics. Troop 612 is ready to represent with their smooth moves and appropriately curated attire.
Party Bus: Need a lift? Take the bus to Summer Camp! GRRRL SCOUT is offering a free shuttle service from two Minneapolis locations. The (party) bus has limited seating (45 people) but routes will be running from 9 p.m.–12:30 a.m. during the eve of the event. Service is offered on a first come first served basis.
Tender Toss: Grab a partner and get a grip…in a good ole’ fashioned water balloon
toss. The catch…(no pun intended) these water filled bombs are covered in the
slipperiest of silicone. Champions will take home a trophy (courtesy of Smitten Kitten) that is certainly not meant for your mother’s mantle, but is a definite must have in every GRRRL SCOUT’S tent.
Late Night Patio Snacks: A night full of dancing can certainly work up an appetite. We’ll be serving up all the campfire classics and more at the Cabooze Canteen on the patio.
Parking and Transportation: The Cabooze is located directly off the Franklin Avenue (Light Rail) stop. Bike racks will be available for those that prefer a non-motorized commute. Get there early to secure your sweet VIP spot just outside the front door. The venue offers two free parking lots adjacent to the building. Additional parking can be found at the Minneapolis American Indian Center free of charge.
