One Voice Mixed Chorus, Minnesota’s LGBTA chorus, presents four FREE performances of The Pirates of Penzance, Gilbert and Sullivan’s operetta, at the Schubert Club Bandshell on Raspberry Island in the middle of the Mississippi River in downtown St. Paul but with a twist…

One Voice’s gender-bending “Pirates” will be complete with a lesbian pirate King and her swarthy crew of sailors. The show features the Major General’s daughters (men in dresses), dancing, frivolity, a live band and plenty of sing-along opportunities for the audience. On Pride Weekend 2017, get ready for a performance of Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance that’s sure to be unlike anything the Twin Cities has ever seen! Set on Raspberry Island in downtown St. Paul, One Voice Mixed Chorus presents a topsy-turvy, gender-bending musical adventure for the whole family, featuring a lesbian pirate king and her swarthy crew of sailors arriving by speedboat, an uproarious appearance from the Major General’s “daughters,” and more! Soloists showcase One Voice singers along with guest artists from among the Twin Cities’ best musical theater actors. Ben Krywosz, artistic director for Nautilus Theater, serves as artistic consultant, and Gary Briggle as stage director, with musical direction by Jane Ramseyer Miller. Join us on the banks of Mississippi River–in your best pirate costume–for a weekend of dancing and frivolity, plus a live band and plenty of sing-along opportunities for the audience.

If you are looking to celebrate Twin Cities Pride this year, Café and Bar Lurcat’s Pride Party is the perfect weekend event to help capture the energetic feel of Minneapolis Pride. Located at the conclusion of the Ashley Rukes GLBT Pride Parade and in the center of all the action happening Loring Park, Lurcat’s Love Luau will certainly be the largest Twin Cities Pride event outside of the parade and the celebration in Loring Park.This year’s Lurcat Pride celebration will include an all-day dance party with 3 amazingly talented DJs, tropical drinks, ice cold beer, 2 dance floors, multiple bars and Lurcat food favorites. Signature tropical cocktails will be crafted especially for the event and Lurcat will also feature Absolut drink specials with over 10 drink stations located within the restaurant and outdoor patios. DJ Lindsay Sheik, DJ Lenka Paris and DJ Sxooba will provide entertainment for anyone wanting to celebrate love and equality.

Rica de la Concha, will be making an appearance to read children’s books during our Drag Queen Storytime. Take a seat on the Rainbow Rug and listen to her read a positive picture book from our inclusive collection.

Make your own lawn sign! The M will help guide kids, of all ages, to create their own mini lawn sign, using upcycled materials and assorted artistic mediums. The signs will celebrate what PRIDE means to you.

Come hang out on our Rainbow Reading Rug, a comfortable spot to lounge and explore a collection of inclusive children’s books, featuring titles that celebrate differences, gender exploration, and ALL kinds of families. Special thanks to the George Latimer Central Library for sharing books from their collection.

Pride After Party: A Festival Eucharist @ Saint Mark's Episcopal Cathedral

Saint Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral will offer a Festive Eucharist to celebrate the rich diversity of human sexuality. Hymns and anthems will be sung by the Cathedral Choir. Pastor Emmy Kegler, Pastor of Grace Lutheran Church in Northeast Minneapolis, will preach. An offering will be collected to support LGBTQ+ youth.
