Biography

David has been on the Board of Directors of Twin Cities Pride, the nonprofit organizer of the annual Twin Cities GLBT Pride Festival since 1998, serving one year as Fund Development Director before assuming his current position as Vice President of Administration in 1999. He is currently serving his fifth two-year term. He was also named a co-Grand Marshal of the 2000 Duluth Pride Celebration.

In his current role with Twin Cities Pride, David currently chairs the organization’s Rules Committee, which is charged with overseeing and making proposed changes to the organization’s operating procedures. He is also charged with taking the minutes of all Board meetings, developing the organization’s forms, and developing and maintaining the organization’s information technology infrastructure, which is generally considered to be the most advanced of any Pride organization.

David also serves as a Vice President of Operations with InterPride, the international association of LGBTI Pride coordinators. His service began at the organization’s 1999 Annual General Meeting in Glasgow, Scotland, where he was first appointed as Parliamentarian. He remained in that position until the 2004 Annual General Meeting in Reykjavik, Iceland, where he was first elected to the position of Vice President of Operations. He was re-elected to that position at the organization’s 2006 Annual General Meeting in Portland, Maine to a second two-year term. During that meeting, he also spearheaded an effort to completely reform and simplify the organization’s operations and structure, a proposal that was passed with the unanimous support of its membership.

In his current role with InterPride, David currently chairs the organization’s Methods and Standards Committee, which is charged with overseeing and making proposed changes to InterPride’s operating procedures. He is also charged with overseeing the organization’s operations in the north-central United States, the British Isles, South America, Oceania and much of central and eastern Asia.

David has been volunteering his time to various causes and organizations for over 20 years. He has substantial experience with parliamentary procedure and organizational design and operations, having worked with many nonprofit and quasi-governmental organizations to improve their structure and operations in his volunteer work.
