Transgender Film Series: Gender Revolution @ Sateren Auditorium, Augsburg College | Minneapolis | Minnesota | United States

Twin Cities Pride and Gender Reel Minnesota present three amazing nights of free film screenings and Q&A’s — 4/5, 4/12 and 4/26. All films will be shown at Sateren Auditorium on the Augsburg College campus in Minneapolis. Opening night reception on April 5 starts at 6:30 pm.

4/5/17: Gender Revolution: A Journey with Katie Couric (7 – 9 pm). This documentary explores the rapidly evolving complexities of gender identity. Produced by National Geographic and former Today Anchor Katie Couric, this film can help — even the most uninformed viewer — expand their concept and knowledge of the transgender experience. To educate herself and viewers, Couric, introduces the viewer to the people “behind the headlines” by talking with trans activists, doctors, families members and individuals around the world. #GenderRevolution

Post-Screening Q&A discussion: Gender Reel Executive Director, Joe Ippolito and Twin Cities Radio Personality Quinn Villagomez

Additional screening nights:

4/12/17: FREE CECE! (7 – 9 pm). This powerful story highlights the experience of CeCe McDonald, a local, 28-year-old African American, bi-trans woman and LGBTQ activist convicted of second-degree manslaughter after defending herself against a man who assaulted her outside a Minneapolis bar in 2012. This film pushes past the everyday narratives of victimhood surrounding the lives of transgender people and highlights the way CeCe and other trans people continue to fight for the rights of trans people, despite their own interpersonal struggles.

Post-Screening Q&A Discussion: Twin Cities Transgender activist Qamar Saadig Saoud.

Speed Dating for Men (Round 3) @ Twin Cities Leather and Latte | Minneapolis | Minnesota | United States

It’s A Date!

Are you exhausted with online searches and club searches. Are you genuinely ready to try a new approach, with the potential to actually meet the ideal man?

Speed Dating for Men is an opportunity to meet men face to face, have a short conversation and see if the chemistry is there for a match and then the next step, A Date. Doesn’t this sound like a great way to meet someone special, without sex being the initial objective. If you are seeking intimacy with a deeper purpose and meaning, this is where it is.

Here is a basic example of how Speed Dating for Men would work.

Men would be lined up at a table (Sitting), opposite of each other and once the clock starts, each contestant would have 3 minutes to interview the person sitting across from them, once the first 3 minutes are finished, the other person sitting across from them would have 3 minutes to interview as well. A total of 6 minutes for the pair to interview each other. Then one side of the table would move to the next chair, and to a new person to interview. This would continue until each person has had the opportunity to interview all contestants.

As you interview each other, you’ll have a sheet (document) to write down the persons name, the responses to your questions, then you would rate the chemistry you had with each interviewee between 1(low) and 10(high). Finally, at the end of the document, you would write down if you would be interested in going on a date with a particular contestant.

Once this process is complete, you will hand in your interview sheets to the organizers, the organizers will
tally all interviewing documents to determine who had the best match.

After the organizers have some fun with contestants, just getting to know a little about each other, the winners with the best match will be announced.

The match would then be given a complimentry dinner for two called: it’s A Date!

The organizers reserve the right to make decisions in regards to awarding or not awarding prizes if the results are not within a reasonably high figure to declare a chemistry match or winner. furthermore, the organizers are not responsible for anything negative that could result from a match and or a date experience. All contestants are adults and are responsible for their actions and behaviors. If a contestant does have a negative experience, the organizers would like to be notified.

All matches throughout the games would come back for a final round, to win a grand prize. Yet to be determined.
